Operation Victory Banner

A Daring Tribute on the White Cliffs

We look back to the 75th anniversary of VE Day when a team of experienced operatives planned a perfect publicity stunt. Their goal? To unveil a massive 25m x 30m banner printed with the iconic "V for Victory" symbol in the colours of the Union Jack on the sheer face of the famous White Cliffs of Dover.

It was a breathtaking tribute to the brave soldiers who turned the tide of World War II. But pulling off such a dramatic display on the windswept cliffs would require two gruelling days of preparation and perfectly timed execution.

On day one, we installed a bespoke system on the cliffs which consisted of tensioned ropes running from Land Rovers to weighted boxes down at the beach below. With expertise and precision, we built the custom system that would support and control the massive banner.

The next morning, as weather reports warned of harsh winds and rain, the operation began. Media arrived in their masses, cameramen trying to get the best position alongside a hovering helicopter and navy frigate standing watch offshore.

Then, the moment of truth. Two of our elite climbers dressed in paratrooper gear hung the banner over the edge and attached it to our system. With the world watching, the patriotic icon was unveiled.

After the media madness, the team hauled the banner back, broke down their equipment, leaving only memories and photographs.
